DIY Christmas: Monogram

This year for Christmas due to our "Year of No Spending" plan (and also just because I love to DIY) I did my best to make home-made gifts for my loved ones! If I'm being honest, we (I) kind of failed at our "No Spending" goal for the month of December (oops). It is really hard to not buy anything during the Holidays! I love gift giving and basically I just said "forget it!" this month. Don't judge, I'm a 23 year old woman, I LIKE TO SHOP. But I'm officially back on track (sigh).
While I was less than disciplined with our "Year of No Spending" plan, I was fairly successful at making some pretty awesome gifts.
This Personalized Front Door Monogram was one of my favorites:
What I did to make it:
1. Order 12" Monogram Letter from CraftCuts.com
2. Spray Paint (or brush paint should work) front and edges of letter base color of choice (I chose red).
3. Stick "hello" decal on letter in desired location.
4. Paint face of letter black (be sure not to paint the edges, you want to keep those red!
5. Once paint is dry, carefully peel off decal.
6. Make bows to represent each month.
7. Hot glue bow to black ribbon, cut ribbon just long enough to wrap around letter, secure with velcro rounds.
8. hot glue ribbon to top of letter to hang from door.
I made this one for my Sister & Brother in law, their last name is Knight.

Some months are easier (February, March, April, July, October, December) to come up with color patterns for the bows, others are kind of random (January, May, June, August, September, November). Overall, this is one of my favorite DIY gifts I have made! (But, my word, did I take a long time to figure out the best way to make this).
Try it for yourself! Show me pictures!
Merry (belated) Christmas!
