Huston Christmas Card 2K15

Since I have yet to figure out how many people are actually in my life deserving Christmas Cards---hint: a lot more than I think--- here is the Huston Christmas Card that you probably should have received in the mail. (Sorry).

Merry Christmas Family and Friends!

What a year, am I right? 2015 in the Huston household has been a bit of a transition year. After moving back to Washington last Fall, we have been working on finding our place in this town/state/world.

For the past year, Matt has been working at FedEx as a driver. He is one of their most valued employees, but he is ready to move on. (Especially during the holiday season, as you could imagine)! He is currently in the middle of Police testing and interviewing. He is through the first round of testing and onto the interviewing stages! He has several interviews scheduled at nearby PD’s that we are very excited about! The PD application and interviewing process is extensive and a bit overwhelming at times, but he has received great advice from some respected Police Officers we know! We are encouraged (and Austin is a little bit nervous) at the idea that he could be a part of a PD this time next year! Pray with us that he finds the right fit!

Austin has been working at a local restaurant, and coaching high school Fastpitch. The Enumclaw Fastpitch team is a blast to coach, and she enjoys pouring encouragement, knowledge, and support into the high school girls whom are so receptive to older female figures! Not to mention, the team is AWESOME and has a real shot at a run for the State Title this year! Austin has also decided to apply to the Masters of Midwifery program at Bastyr University (based near Seattle). To get ready for that she will be taking a couple of pre-requisite courses including a Doula and Labor and Delivery class. Applications for school are due in February and the first of the three year program would start in late August of 2016. She is nervous to embark on (another) three years of school, but we are convinced that this is the right thing for our future! We are committed and excited to see where it takes us!

This year has been the year of a growing family, too! Wendy (Matt’s Mom) got married and we gained a whole new family! Nick and Wendy’s wedding this summer was perfect and so much fun! We laughed, and ate, and danced the night away! We have also gained our first niece, Madison Nicole Knight! We love having a baby to dote on, and love that we are getting to spend some extra time with Ryan and Kylie! Shane (Austin’s brother) is stationed in Japan with the Marines, but will be returning state-side in Spring of 2016 (we are hoping to be stationed in San Diego, family vacation, here we come)!

As for us, we are learning to appreciate this season we are in while we are in it! We can’t wait to start our own little family, but we are also grateful for this time we have with just the two (three if you count Bane) of us! We are blessed beyond words with the love and support we continue to receive from friends and family around us; and we are learning to trust God’s plan for our lives more and more as we lean in to discomfort and accept his “grace upon grace.”

Merry Christmas to all! If you are interested in keeping up with what’s going on in our lives throughout the year, head over to Austin’s blog-- austiinjean.wix.com/hello-huston !

Love,

Matt & Austin (and Bane)
