The Best Christmas Gift...

This year, due partially to our "Year of No Spending," and partially due to a little bit of growing up, my Christmas gifting is turning out a bit different than ever before.
I will be honest, we have "cheated" on a few items that we have straight up bought (no loop hole around that) while other gifts I have made (that end up costing more than something store bought would); but my favorite gift idea this year is neither bought or made (or maybe it's both)... This year's winning gifting has been quality time!

I have a few really great girlfriends who I spend most of my social time with, and this year instead of gifts, we are doing outings.
One of my girlfriends works at a super fancy Lodge as a Massage Therapist so she was able to get us a room for a huge discount! The three of us sat in bath robes, had a bible study on the bed, went to the spa and sweated our bums off, we attempted to contour our faces (LOL), went to dinner, went to the hotel bar, drank fabulous martinis, they did yoga in the morning while I took advantage of the huge jacuzzi bathtub (I was getting over a cold), and then we went to brunch before we headed home. We didn't get each other anything at all.

IT. WAS. PERFECT.
We did it the week before Thanksgiving and it was perfect for relaxing before the Holiday Season got crazy!

With another group of girls, we will be going to Portland for a girls night after Christmas!
There are so many benefits of gifts like these!
1) Quality Time for the win.
2) Memories are the best gift you could give anyone (cliche, but true).
3) Financially, you aren't spending a big chunk of change all at once for something like this.
4) Vacation.
Don't get me wrong, I love gifts more than most. I love getting gifts, but I really love giving gifts. But what are they going to remember in 5 years? The night at the Lodge, or that really cute sweater? The Lodge wins every time.

So next time you can't think of what to get your BFF, consider investing in quality time instead of the wallet.
Let me know what you decide to do!
