Fresh starts are my most favorite things ever.

New weeks, new months, new years, they're my favorite.

I love to sit down and write down my intentions and my goals for the next period of time.

Goals are a huge part of my life. I like to make short-term (daily-weekly), mid-term (monthly-multi-monthly), and long-term (yearly-multi-yearly) goals. By making small goals for short periods of time, it makes my long term goals less intimidating and more attainable.

My daily goals include things as simple as make the bed, drink one gallon of water, and read my bible. Weekly goals could include lifting 5 days a week, wake up by 7 each day, and read 100 pages in whichever book I am reading at the moment.

Today, being the first of the month, I spent some time setting goals for this last month of 2015.

For monthly goals I like to specify goals for different aspects of my life. They include:

1.) Fitness Goals

2.) Dietary Goals

3.) Intellectual Goals

4.) Relationship Goals

5.) Spiritual Goals

6.) Financial Goals

7.) Health/Beauty Goals

I find it important to focus on goals that have to do with your mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health. My goals always have to do with bettering myself, not just on a quantitative outcome. I almost always make goals attached to DOING something.

If I make a goal to lose 20lbs I will just be disappointed with myself until I reach that goal. But if I made goals like work out 5 days per week, drink one gallon of water per day, and limit myself to one sweet treat per week, I can feel satisfied with each of those smaller goals I accomplish.

Following that example, it is important to realize that physical goals are not the only or even the most important goals we should be making. You and I need to be working on improving ourselves in every part of our lives, we should never be at a complete stand still. That is something I have always been very passionate about, we are not static beings, we are meant to grow.

So what do you think? Are you a goal setter? What is your strategy?

Happy December,

xo/Austin
