Morning Ritual.

(I know I promised something on the joy of Dry Shampoo, but I prepared poorly, and missed photo-ops so next week it is!)
For now, I am here to share something I call my morning ritual (or routine).
I am a creature of habit.
Let me emphasize that more, I. AM. A. CREATURE. OF. HABIT.
I love routine.
I love having a plan.
I love to-do lists.
This is why I have to share with you my favorite part of my day, the morning.
For the past 6 or so months I have done the same thing (almost) every morning.

Here is what it entails:
1.) Wake up
2.) Make Coffee
3.) Sit at the kitchen table
4.) Fill out day planner (Thyme-is-Honey) and set intentions/goals for the day
5.) Have quiet time and read by bible.
This is just bare bones, what I do every morning in order to feel prepared emotionally, spiritually, and physically for the day. If it were a perfect day, I would be up by 6, make lunch for M to take to work, go through my day planning & bible study, get to the gym, get home by 9:00, eat breakfast, walk Bane, and be ready for the rest of the day all by 10:30. But the truth is, that happens maybe 1/7 days. So if i it's the best I can do, I will take the "bare bones" routine!
My idea of these moments is to fully embrace my time with Jesus. I like to be quiet, phone-less, fully emerged in the Word and focused on my goals. For me it gives me a moment at the beginning of the day to sit down and focus on me, my goals, and Jesus. It gives me a break from this go-go-go world. It gives me a constant in my hectic, inconsistent life! It is my favorite part of the day!

If you don't already have one, I highly recommend you start to develop one that works for you! Whether it includes prayer, meditation, reading, walking, writing, goal-setting, or whatever else you can think of, the small amount of time you take for yourself is important for both your mental and physical health. Sometimes we have no choice other than to be busy, but taking a few moments alone before your day takes over can make all of the difference whether your attitude stays positive, or turns bitter.
Until next time,
xo/Austin
